Overview
Matterport enables estate agents and property professionals to create both immersive virtual tours and high-quality HDR photographs from a single survey.
This significantly reduces site time, eliminates the need for separate photography sessions and ensures complete consistency between the virtual tour and the marketing images.
Adding a Matterport Virtual Tour to Daft.ie
Daft.ie supports embedded Matterport virtual tours, allowing prospective purchasers and tenants to explore a property interactively before arranging a viewing.
Step 1 – Log into Daft
Log into your Daft Agent Account.
Step 2 – Select the Property
Open the property listing that you wish to edit.
Step 3 – Edit the Media
Select Edit and then choose Edit Media.
Step 4 – Add the Virtual Tour
Scroll to the bottom of the page until you reach the Add Virtual Tour section.
Paste the Matterport model URL into the field provided.
Step 5 – Save the Listing
Click Save Now.
The Matterport tour will now appear within the property’s Daft listing.
Creating Still Photographs from Matterport
Matterport Workshop allows you to create professional HDR still photographs directly from your processed digital twin.
In many situations these images are suitable for use instead of photographs taken separately using a DSLR or mobile phone, saving both time and equipment during the survey.
Depending on your subscription, images may be available in resolutions of up to 4K.
Creating Photographs
- Log into my.matterport.com.
- Open the required Space.
- Click Edit.
- Navigate to the desired scan position.
- Select the Camera icon from the right-hand toolbar.
- Choose the 3:2 Aspect Ratio from the upper-right corner.
- Carefully compose the image.
- Click the Camera button beneath the image to generate an HDR photograph.
- Repeat for all required viewpoints.
Downloading Photographs
Once all photographs have been created:
- Open the Media tab.
- Select the required images.
- Click Download.
- Choose Presentation Resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) or a higher resolution if available under your subscription.
- Confirm the download.
Matterport will process the photographs and email a download link, usually within a few minutes.
Top Tip – Capture Dedicated Photography Scans
One of the most useful techniques employed by experienced Matterport professionals is to capture additional scans specifically for photography.
These scans are positioned to create the strongest photographic composition rather than the shortest navigation route.
Typical locations include:
- Room corners
- Feature fireplaces
- Kitchen islands
- Staircase landings
- Garden seating areas
- Exterior elevations
- Balconies
- Attractive architectural features
These additional scans provide much better viewpoints for marketing images.
If they are not required within the walkthrough, they can simply be hidden during post-production while remaining available for creating photographs.
Best Practice
- Plan both the walkthrough and the photography before beginning the survey.
- Capture additional scans where better photographic viewpoints exist.
- Keep horizons level and compositions balanced.
- Use HDR images for brochures, websites and property portals.
- Hide photography-only scans if they interrupt navigation.
This workflow enables a single Matterport survey to deliver both an immersive virtual tour and a comprehensive library of professional marketing photographs.
